The Power of Positive Speaking:
An Overlooked Beauty Tip

As women we are in constant search of simple beauty tips that actually work. However there is one beauty tip that is so simple yet rarely applied consistently. In fact it’s probably the most overlooked beauty tip, yet every woman no matter her make-up skill level can apply this beauty tip with ease. So what exactly is this elusive beauty tip you ask? It is quite simply the power of positive speaking.

So often we are bombarded with the concept of positive thinking, but how often do we give thought to our words? Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but words are in the ear of the hearer and once spoken they cannot be taken back. Like me, I’m sure you have never considered murder. The very thought is likely unbearable. But I will ask you a heart-wrenching question that was once asked of me…how many people have you murdered with your words? OUCH! That’s how I felt when I was asked the question.

James chapter three says “with the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.”

TIP

Every thought that enters you mind does not need to be shared.

If you currently struggle with this, know that it is possible to change. I was once one who was quite sarcastic and always had a witty jab to share. I was also very argumentative and not to really prove a point, but just simply to argue. I actually thought it was fun. Growing up, I was often told I would be a lawyer because I loved to argue so much. So when that question was asked of me I was practically in tears because I begin to think of all the people I had not only hurt but even possibly pushed away from the Kingdom, all because of my carelessness.

As I have matured physically, mentally and spiritually, I’ve learned to think before I speak and consider how my choice of words may affect others. As Christian single women, we must be mindful of the words we speak, especially those of us preparing for marriage because what we practice now is what we will take into our marriage.

“A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day; restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.” - Proverbs 27:15-16 NIV

TIP

"...speak the truth in love..." - Ephesians 4:15

Positive speaking is your ability to speak life, to speak words that edify and build others up as opposed to tearing them down. Words are powerful, they have the power to bless or to curse and only you can decide which you will choose to do with your words. The power of positive speaking resides within you.

You may look absolutely beautiful and be appealing to the eye but don’t allow your beauty to fade when you open your mouth. If you have a problem with your words, pray about it and begin taking steps to change.

Please don’t overlook this simple tip in your beauty regimen and for the best results, be sure to apply daily.
