Once Saved, Always Saved
One question that is sometimes asked is, can I lose my
salvation? Rest
assured that once saved always saved is not just a cliché.
“...Christ
died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he
was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.” - 1
Corinthians 15:3-5 NLT
When
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead more
than 2,000 years ago, He paid the price for ALL our sins. Think about
it, you were not even born when He provided this incredibly unselfish
gift, so surely He didn’t die for all the sins you committed up to that
point because all your sins were future at that point.
Christ
died for ALL our sins, past, present and future. Since the penalty for
sin is death, Christ came to take our place and pay the price once and
for all.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
NLT
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering
for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT
All that’s required of you is to believe what Christ alone has done for
you and to trust Him.
“If
you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
- Romans 10:9 NLT
So
once you are saved, you are in the Father’s hands and once there, no
one can snatch you out. No one can take away your salvation.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
And I
give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall
anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me,
is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My
Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” - John 10:27-30 NKJV
Secured Kinship
Another
reason you can be assured of your salvation and know that once saved
always saved is true, is that we are children of God.
“The
Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of
God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with
Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified
together.” - Romans 8:16-17
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called children of God!” - 1 John 3:1
Once
you accept Christ and join the family of faith, you will always be
family. Think of it this way, your mother will always be your mother
(she gave birth to you). Now, if something happened between the two of
you and communication ceased or the relationship somehow became
strained, the fellowship between you may be lacking, but the fact that
she’s your mother remains unchanged.
The same is true with God,
we may cease communicating with Him or we may choose not to have a
relationship with Him, but at the end of the day He’s still our Father.
He continues to love us because we are His children.
Bottom
line, you can NOT lose your salvation, once saved always saved. Christ
paid the full price to save you once and for all. Once you accept the
gift, it’s yours forever. Now live a life that reflects how grateful
you are for such an incredible gift.
I’ll say it again…once saved always saved!
