Dreaming of getting married? Most of us have dreamt about it since we were little girls. Usually our thoughts surround the wedding day where we will be draped in a beautiful gown, surrounded by family and friends and looking into the eyes of the man we love and plan to spend the rest of our lives with.
However, isn’t it funny that we rarely (if ever) think of placing someone else’s needs above our own or submitting in love to God’s design for marriage? What about how we will handle conflict or resolve disagreements?
A bride is defined as a female participant in her own marriage ceremony. And a wife is defined as a female partner in marriage or a woman joined in marriage to a man.
Although you cannot become a wife without first being a bride, a wife has a higher, more purposeful calling. Let’s review the differences between a bride and a wife to ensure we are preparing for what we really want.

Marriage goes far beyond the wedding ceremony. Marriage is a covenant commitment between God, a man and a woman to wed their lives together lovingly in a union that is total: spiritual, mental and physical. God created marriage; in fact it was the first institution He established. He not only encourages it, He also commands unity in it as a lifelong relationship.
The biblical concept of marriage is closely tied to God’s purposes since it is viewed as a covenant parallel to the covenant relationship between God and His people.
The choice is yours so which will you prepare to become, a bride or a wife? Your actions will dictate your choice. Are all your plans surrounding the day: the dress, the flowers, location, the reception, your hair, nails, makeup, etc. or have you expanded your plans to include the Bible, your ministry together, your finances, conflict resolution, etc.?
I pray that you will be not only a beautiful bride, but a wife that is a true beauty to behold.
