Beauty Makeover Tips

Looking good, girl but have you looked beyond
the mirror?
Oh
yeah, it’s time for a beauty makeover!
Of
course, makeup, hair and nails are a part of a woman’s beauty but none
are essential to her beauty.
Most likely when you think of beauty tips,
you think of these things, but for the Christian single woman I
endeavor to go deeper.
Beauty makeover tips are plentiful, but
most seem to be focused only on outer beauty. However, outer beauty
becomes meaningless if your inner beauty is flawed.
If
you're looking for true beauty makeover tips, look no further! Here are
a few beauty makeover tips that are GUARANTEED to enhance any woman’s
beauty (and you don’t need to know how to apply makeup to use them).
Beauty Makeover Tip # 1: Purify Your Heart
The
primary aspect of a Christian woman’s beauty is a heart that loves
Jesus. We must not only love Jesus but choose to give our hearts to Him
and to live totally for Him.
So often we give our heart to
people who don’t know how to handle it appropriately, but God wants us
to trust Him with our heart and to be pure in heart. To be pure in
heart is to have a singular focus on Christ. We can do this by
committing to do His will and removing anything that separates us from
Him.
Doing the will of God starts with
prayer
and
studying
the Bible
(God’s will is His Word). Removal of things that separate you from
Christ may require you to stand alone in the flesh, but you must know
that you are never alone in Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in you at all
times. We must decide we are going to live for God no matter what. Read
Daniel chapters one and six for encouragement in this area.
When
(not if) we mess up as we’re seeking to be a woman after God’s heart,
we can take a cue from David and ask for forgiveness (Psalm 51).
Forgiveness is another way by which we purify our hearts.
TIP
Seek to have a pure heart and live a life pleasing to Christ.
We all
have sinned, but God has promised to forgive us of our sins if we
confess them (I John 1:9). We must trust that God honors His Word and
forgives, but we must also forgive others as well as ourselves.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
- Matthew 5:8 NKJV
Beauty Makeover Tip # 2: Consider Your Thoughts
Do you
ever think about what you think about? Our thought life can get us into
to trouble. I’m sure none of us would like all of our innermost
thoughts to be displayed on a big screen for all to see. Truth is, the
Bible says “for as a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).
Joyce Meyer in her best-selling book,
Battlefield of the Mind
accurately shares how there is a war going on in your head. She shares
how to overcome the negative thoughts that so easily robs us of our joy
and peace.
She highlights how to find peace over current
negative mental activity, how to see truth by thinking correctly, how
to use spiritual weapons effectively and how to overcome mentalities
that hold us in harmful situations.
Sin begins with our
thoughts, so conquer your thoughts by meditating on the Word of God.
God would never ask us to do anything, He would not also enable us to
do.
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”
- Philippians 2:5 NKJV
“casting
down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the
obedience of Christ” - Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
TIP
Think about what you think about.
So bring your thoughts into the captivity of Jesus Christ as the Word
says. By His power you will be able to do it.
The old adage is true, we must watch our thoughts because our thoughts
become our words and actions.
Beauty Makeover Tip # 3: Speak Life
While it’s true
beauty is only skin deep, it’s even truer that our words cut deeper. As
Christian women, we must learn to
speak words that edify (build up)
others, not tear them down. If our heart loves Jesus, how can
we speak
negativity against His creation (others)?
TIP
Let Christ be your example, speak
words that
bring life.
James tells us the
tongue is a powerful member that no one can tame, so we must pray and
ask God to guard our tongue (James 3). Just as both fresh and salt
water does not flow from the same opening, James warns neither shall
our mouths speak both blessings unto God and curse men.
"… For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
Matt 12:34 NKJV
Beauty Makeover Tip # 4: Check Your Attitude
Remember the
old saying, your attitude determines your altitude? Well it’s true,
attitude is everything because it drives your behavior. The following
quote by Chuck Swindoll accurately illustrates this fact.
“The
longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important
than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than
failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It
is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will
make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is
we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for
that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that
people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The
only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our
attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of
how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our
Attitudes.”
TIP
The true test of walking in the spirit
will not
be the way we act, but the way we react to the daily frustrations of
life. -
Beverly LeHaye
You can’t control the actions of anyone else,
but you can control your attitude in response to others' actions.
Identify those things that cause you to have a bad attitude and pray
about adjusting your attitude when you encounter those things in the
future. Ask God to help you have an attitude that pleases Him.
Beauty Makeover Tip #5: Smile
Have you ever noticed that
a smile is universal? No matter what language a person speaks, everyone
understands a smile. It requires absolutely no interpretation. A smile
begets a smile. Don’t believe me, just try it.
Although quite
simple, a smile has a powerful impact. A smile conveys happiness or joy
or even welcome. It’s hard to believe such a small action could have
such a big impact. Someone sent me an email once that said "don’t frown
because you never know who’s falling in love with your smile." What a
great thought.
TIP
Smile, Jesus loves you!
Just think your smile could be the very thing
that makes someone else’s day. It costs you nothing, but it gives so
much to others. So go ahead, SMILE!
You are beautiful because you are fearfully and wonderfully
made
(Psalm 139:14), but these beauty makeover tips are sure to greatly
enhance your beauty from the inside out.
“Don’t be concerned
about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or
beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty
that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is so precious to God.” - 1 Peter 3:3-4 NLT
