What to wear, what to wear? From shirts to shoes, skirt or pants, then on to accessories, the decisions seem endless. What’s a girl to choose? It doesn’t matter if you’re a fashion forward fashionista or just trying to find something that fits, it’s a dilemma most women face regularly.

Beauty fashion tips are plentiful. In fact, a simple Google search yields millions of results for the term ‘fashion tips’. Granted I did not review all of them, but of the countless sites I reviewed, none provided fashion tips from the Christian perspective.

Now I will admit, every woman can likely benefit from a few basic health & beauty tips, but both outer beauty and fashion trends are fleeting. Therefore, enduring beauty tips should focus on inner beauty. For the sake of the Christian single woman I will share beauty fashion tips for both inner and outer beauty.

Primary Beauty Fashion Tip:

The Christian woman is to be clothed in righteousness. Just like the answer for all other life issues, lasting beauty fashion tips can also be found in scripture.

“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline... And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”- Colossians 3:12-14 Message

Dress to impress… Christ!

God has called us to a new life of love. He is first concerned with our heart. Therefore our primary consideration is our all-purpose garment of Christ likeness. Because we are His, there should be some family resemblance. So let’s put on the garments He has laid out for us – love, kindness and meekness to name a few. They look good, no matter the season.

Secondary Beauty Fashion Tip:

You can be fashionable without exposing your God-given treasures. Royalty is to be regal, dignified and by all means covered (as a child of the King, you are royalty). To borrow a line from one of my favorite episodes of The Cosby Show, “I am not your mothers, but I think I speak for them when I say, ‘go cover yourselves immediately’.”

Now this does not mean you can’t have your own style but no matter your style, exposing yourself is not an option for the Christian single woman. You are a gift to be treasured, not exposed for all the world to see.

TIP

Modest is hottest!

Another thought to keep in mind is that men (especially Christian men), before they are your date, boyfriend or your husband, they are your brother in Christ. As such you should not do anything to lead them astray or cause your brother to stumble. Men are visual creatures, so don’t arouse them unnecessarily by dressing haughtily. Of course they have some responsibility here, but there is no need to tempt them.
