Am I Saved?
Got Jesus? Have you ever wondered, am I saved? Saved or
salvation is
defined as being rescued or delivered from the penalty of sin.
Salvation comes by trusting Jesus Christ as your only way to heaven.
According
to a 2007 Barna Research national survey, only 10% of adults nationwide
don't believe in God. Additionally, the research indicates 53% of all
adults believe if a person is generally good, or does enough good
things for others during their life, they will earn a place in Heaven.
On
the surface these stats could be construed as impressive, 90% of the
adult population believes in God and more than half believe they are
going to heaven. That's great, right?...WRONG!!!
The
tragic reality is that most equate belief in God with there being a
higher power somewhere (not Jesus Christ). Also, being or doing good
does not guarantee your entrance into heaven.
Despite popular belief, the Bible says Jesus is the only
way to heaven.
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life.
No
one comes to the Father except through me."- John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus
did NOT say He was one of the ways, but THE way, THE truth and THE
life. He also did NOT say, some people can get to the Father apart from
Him, but rather NO ONE gets to the Father (who is in heaven) except
through Him.
The Bible also says faith in Jesus Christ
is required, not good deeds.
"For
by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."-
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
So,
if you've ever asked the question, am I saved? your answer is
contingent upon whether or not you believe the above facts are indeed
true.

Assurance of your Salvation
Both heaven and
hell are real, so it is essential that you know where you will spend
eternity. Guessing or wavering is meaningless, you need to know beyond
a shadow of a doubt that you are saved.
First and foremost know
that your assurance is not based on a feeling. It doesn't matter how
you feel, you must know in your heart that you are saved.
God's Word provides assurance, so there is no need to wonder if you
are
saved. You can know it for certain.
"If you confess with your mouth that
Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
- Romans 10:9 NLT
"For everyone who calls on the name of the
LORD
will be saved." -
Romans
10:13 NLT
"...it is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you
crucified but whom God raised from the dead...salvation
is
found in no one else, for there is no other name under
heaven given to men by which we must be saved." - Acts
4:10-12 NIV
"And
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love.
Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears
for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell
can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the
earth below -indeed, nothing in all creation will ever
be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ
Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38-39 NLT
If you are sure of your faith, share it! Continue to pray and study
